Amanda Jewell

Amanda Jewell, Board Member

Amanda was raised in Alamogordo and graduated from Alamogordo High School. Amanda continued her education at Louisiana State University- Shreveport graduating with a B.S. in Psychology and then earning a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling. Amanda married her high school sweetheart, Kevin Jewell, also an Alamogordo native. While her husband served in the Army, she provided individual and group counseling, through a variety of settings with a primary focus on conducting Dialectical Behavior Therapy in a group setting to teens and adults, intensive in-home therapy with children and their guardians, and in-school counseling.

Upon her husband’s discharge from the Army, her family moved back to New Mexico with the goal of raising their children in Alamogordo. Her experience as a mental health counselor and military spouse enables her to understand the unique challenges facing members of our community. Amanda understands the difficult transition our service members face when leaving the military and co-founded the Alamogordo Chapter of Team RWB, a non-profit Veterans service organization whose goal is “To enrich the lives of America's Veterans by connecting them to their community through physical and social activity.” She is also an active member of 100 Women Who Care of Alamogordo.

Amanda is a licensed school counselor; however, due to her board position is unable to work in the Alamogordo School District. Amanda works as a Project Manager in the home building industry and uses her experience, as well as the experiences of other women to publish STEM and construction-related children’s books, Panda the Project Manager Builds Her First Home and Panda the Project Manager Builds a Greenhouse.

Amanda is the mother of two daughters, the third generation in her family attending Alamogordo Public Schools.
